Instructions:

THYME:

  1. Sow Seeds in the Spring. Cover the peat pellet with hot water and wait for it to rise and expand, then place it into peat pot.
  2. The seeds need to be started in a warm frost- free place. A greenhouse or your window sill would work well. Keep under cover until approx 5-10cm high, then harden off by putting outside during the day and inside at night for a few days.
  3. Plant the seedlings in the peat pot directly into their final positions, in well-drained soil with full sunlight. Thyme can also be grown in a pot.
  4. You may need to thin out the seedlings by plucking out any of the smaller ones to allow space for the others to grow.
  5. Harvest the leaves for cooking with roast potatoes, meat, herb butter, pasta etc. Alternatively, Thyme has a lot of medicinal properties and can be used to help fight cold and flu symptoms.

CHIVES:

  1. Sow seeds early Spring to Autumn. Cover the peat pellet with hot water and wait for it to rise and expand, then place it into peat pot.
  2. Sow seed at a depth approximately three times the diameter of the seed. Sprinkle a few seeds in the peat pellet, cover and gently firm down.
  3. Once the seedlings are approx 5-10cm high, you can start to put them outside during the day to harden them up and bring them back inside at night.
  4. Then plant the seedlings in the peat pot directly into the soil. Chives can also be grown in a pot.
  5. Once the plants have long leafy growth, you can harvest some of the leaves for herb butter, salads, eggs etc.

PARSLEY:

  1. Sow Italian parsley in Spring, Summer or Autumn. Cover the peat pellet with hot water and wait for it to rise and expand, then place it into peat pot.
  2. Sow seed at a depth approximately three times the diameter of the seed. Sprinkle a few seeds in the peat pellet, cover and gently firm down.
  3. Once the plants are approx 5cm tall you can plant the peat pots directly into the soil in it’s final position or parsley can be grown in a pot.
  4. You may need to thin out the seedlings by plucking out any of the smaller seedlings to allow space for the others to grow.
  5. When the plant has leafy growth you can harvest some of the leaves for pesto, herb butter, salads, eggs, prawn dishes etc.
